Access Health CT is Connecticut’s official health insurance marketplace. It was established in 2013 to satisfy the requirements of the federal Affordable Care Act. It offers Connecticut residents, families and small employers a range of quality, affordable medical and dental insurance options from several health insurance partners.
Premiums for plans purchased through Access Health CT vary by your age, the size of the family, and where you live. There are also significant financial subsidies available to help pay for coverage, depending on your income. Nearly 75 percent of Access Health CT customers receive some financial help with their premiums.
There is an open enrollment period every fall when anyone can sign up for coverage. At other times, you may only enroll if you have a “qualifying life event” such as loss of your prior coverage, marriage, birth or adoption of a child, or a permanent move to Connecticut.
You can enroll online, or get in-person help at an enrollment location or enrollment fair, all listed on the Access Health CT website. There is also a “compare plans” tool on the website that will help you see what plans you qualify for, which ones include your doctor(s) and medication(s), and compare the coverage.
